Home Happenings

It's been too long since I posted some pictures of the children, so I thought I would show you all these while I catch you up on what has been going on here at the Fowler home.  We are still waiting on confirmation for my dh to come home.  I probably won't get more than 12 to 24 hours notice.  How's that for preparing, huh?  But, since not knowing means he is safer, I am fine with that.  I just keep holding on waiting to hear "that" phone call.

I don't discuss times and dates with the younger four children.  They only know that Daddy is coming home sooner than expected.  I have two birthdays coming up in February.  Julia (in the first picture) will turn four years old.  And Josiah (4th picture will turn nine).  Of course, both of them want their Daddy there for the celebration and it gets hard trying to explain that we cannot count on him being there.  They do occasionally ask how much longer...I try to tell them soon, but how soon, I have no idea!  By the way, the picture above is of Joel, my five year old.
This is Joanna, my six year old.  She will turn seven in March and this week she will be starting second grade phonics and reading.  That will be exciting for her to share that news with her Daddy when he gets home.
Josiah, my soon to be nine year old and lover of all things Legos!  He is reading on his own just for pleasure so much more and that is a joy to see.
Joy, now thirteen and taller than I am!  She is such a big helper.  She is my crafter.  Below are some of the projects she has recently done.
This is a little softie animal that she hand sewed.  Cute huh?
I taught her the beginning stitches to crochet and then got her a book for the more advanced things.  Here are some granny square blocks, a snowflake she did and some flowers she crocheted.  The thread is from her collection for her embroidery.  She taught herself that.  And she really does a beautiful job.
As far as other things going on around here...remember when I showed you all the picture of my wounded toe sometime back?  Well, guess what?  I did it again.  And this time, I am pretty sure I broke it.  I can feel these lumps in places that I never felt before!  It has been extremely painful and I have had to wear thick socks with my houseshoes to help protect it.  What a way to great my husband when he returns!  That has put a little damper on my deep clean projects, but I am still decluttering and working on simplifying our lives and home.  I will keep you all informed when dh comes home for good.  Please continue to keep us in your prayers.  Until next time!

I hope your toe feels better soon. It is nice to "meet" your children!

Your hubby isn't going to notice the house, he is going to notice his family! No worries...

You are right...he will be so happy to be home that all the other things will pale in comparison. Still waiting for that day!

Oh how exciting for you Jackie! As you anticipate the homecoming of your husband ~ you must be nearly bursting at the seams with excitement!! Don't overdo it in the cleaning of the house ~ as Stacie rightly said, YOU will be his focus!! :)

Your children are all lovely and your oldest is talented in the crafting department. Enjoy these days of anticipation and preparation, but be sure to get LOTS of rest so you can be fresh and well rested for the reunion.

May the Lord bless you this week!

With Love,

Good advice. I definitely don't want to be so exhausted from trying to do too much that I am not able to enjoy the first days of his homecoming like I should. And yes, I am ready to burst with excitement!

We recently started a new PWOC Bible study at the chapel on our base. It's on having a Mary Heart in a Martha World. (I think that isn't quite the exact title!) I agree with the other posters. Don't be a Martha, your hubby won't give the mantel a white glove test. I, too, am learning to be a Mary. That's good news for me, because my housekeeping skills need some Martha-izing! You will have plenty of time to dust.

Hopefully it makes it easier to wait NOT knowing the exact day of his arrival. I hope he gets to take a lot of leave when he first gets home.

Thank you Lois for the reminder. I think the problem is that I haven't been enough of a keep up the housework kind of woman lately, so I am scrambling to get it done. But, God already took care of that with my toe! And, it seems the Army has changed his arrival date three different times and now they are saying they have no idea when they will get a plane out. God is also working on my patience as well. But, He has given me a peace about it, even though I still miss my husband terribly. I really feel as though God will work even the waiting for out good. So, I am waiting and resting in Him. God bless you!

Oh, bummer! I pray that thing starts to heal soon. No fun!

Loved your pictures of you kids and what their interests are. My Josiah is a Lego lovin' fool, too. Your oldest daughter does great work.

I think that is so wise not to put a date or time on hubby's return. It'll be here before you know it!

I am sorry about your toe! I think it is good you don't discuss dates and times. I am an Ex-Navy wife and while I was lucky, many of my friends have had last minute delays on deployments. *hugs*

Your family is beautiful. Your sons look like they could have been twins!

Thank you for your kind comments Renee.

Oh, I hope your foot will get better soon. We never notice how important the little parts of our body are until something like this happens.
I'm sure your DH will think everything is perfect when he comes- his family all there to see him!
I cannot tell you how much I respect military wives- you are incredibly brave. I don't know how you do it (well, with Jesus of course...but you know what I mean!)
I'm glad he'll be home soon, you must be so excited!
