A Great Resource!

If you have Netflix, I highly recommend getting this video to watch.  It is a documentary on Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee.  If you homeschool, it would be a wonderful addition to your history of the Civil War.  If you don't homeschool, it would be a great resource to share with your children the spiritual lives of these men and how their faith impacted everything they did.  There are some black and white photos of the Civil War in this documentary, and some are of men dead on the field.   I did not find them especially gruesome or bloody, but depending on the ages of your children, you may want to preview it first.  This documentary was so very good that we ended up getting a copy from Amazon.  I rented it off Netflix thinking that it would be a great resource to give the children added information about the war.  I had no idea it would be so God-honoring.  I found myself greatly convicted by the lives of these two great generals.  My husband liked it so much he started reading a book on Stonewall Jackson afterward.  In a time where our children, and especially our boys, are lacking Godly examples of what it means to be a man of faith in difficult times...this DVD is a rare find.  If you decide to rent it, let me know what you think!  God bless!

Thanks for the recommendation! My second oldest loves Stonewall Jackson, and with four boys in the house, this DVD will definitely have an audience. Adding it to our queue now. Have a beautiful day, my friend!

Have you deen the Documentary from Franklin Springs Media on Stonewall. I enjoyed it too. I need to rent this from Netflix. We are getting ready to do a big study on the Civil War so I can use this. There are so many things to rent on Netflix but I just don't know what the kids should see. We plan to end the big study with a trip to the Battlefield and Museum close by. Have you seen any others you can share with us that are good? I enjoy reading your blog. Missy

Missy,
It is hard to find things on Netflix. I end up previewing most everything before I allow my children to watch it. I will tell you that anything by David Barton from Wallbuilders is wonderful. Netflix does have a few of his things. If I run across any other ones, I will let you know. And yes, we really like Franklin Springs and have the one of Stonewall. I really like that one as well. Blessings to you, Jackie
